Oil and Gas Industry
Fast hydrating guar gum and its derivatives are mainly used as thickener, carrier for proppants, gelling agent and fluid loss control agent in drilling muds & fluids. Fast hydrating guar gum and its derivatives are effective in fresh water, sea water and complex brine low solids drilling systems. It is non-polluting, non-toxic and is compatible with other drilling fluid additives. Recently, use of guar gum in horizontal drilling as compared to the vertical (conventional) drilling method has been increased; use of horizontal drilling has made the drilling process more economically feasible leading to increased drilling activity which in turn has induced increased demand of guar gum.
Food Industry
Guar gum is used as highly efficient and cost effective additive. It works as gelling, viscosifying, thickening, clouding and binding agent as well as used for stabilization, emulsification, preservation, water retention, enhancement of water soluble fiber content etc. Some food products in which guar gum powder is used are ice cream, flavored milk, pet foods, beverages, bread, biscuit and other baked foods, Ham and sausages, Myonnaise, ketchup, sauce & dressings, noodles etc
Pulp and Paper Industry
Guar gum and its derivatives are used in paper manufacturing as wet end additive, for size press applications and for recovery of fines. Due to improved binding of cellulose fibers, it imparts better functionality to paper.
Water Treatment
Disperse systems are encountered in a wide variety of fields; especially in the chemical industry where important technological processes need a fast, complete or selective solid-liquid separation of disperse media viz. papermaking, water treatment, clarification of beverages, mineral processing etc. Flocculation is a process whereby dispersed particles are aggregated together to form large particles of such a size so as to cause their settling and cause clarification of the system. Flocculants are the materials, which are used, in fast solid-liquid separations. They act on a molecular level on the surfaces of the particles to reduce repulsive forces and increase attractive forces.
Cosmetic and Personal Care
Guar gum and its derivatives are especially developed to impart performance functions such as thickening, conditioning, foam stability, softening and lubricity in cosmetics & toiletries like hair & skin care products, cleansing & bathing products.
Metallurgical and Mining Industry
Guar gum is widely used as a flocculant and froth flotation agent to produce liquid solid separation during extraction of precious ores. It acts as a depressant for talc or insoluble gangue mined along with the valuable minerals & ores.
Explosive Industry
Guar gum powder is being used as gelling agent for gel sausage type explosives and pump able slurry explosives. It works as water blocking and suspending agent in nitro-glycerine, slurry explosives, ammonium nitrate and dynamite explosives.
animal feed Industry
The guar splits (endosperm) are commercially extracted from the guar (Cyamopsis tetragonolobus) seeds essentially by a mechanical process of roasting, differential attrition, sieving and polishing. Guar seeds are broken; germ and husk are obtained from the seeds. These are used as a nutritional animal feed as they are rich in protein. These are widely sold in International Market as Guar Meal.
